Beyonce Will Perform Tonight on the CMAs

The Beyhive will be tuning into the Country Music Awards for maybe the first time ever? It was just announced that Beyoncé will be performing tonight when ABC broadcasts the awards live, Billboard reports.

The performance was obviously kept secret until today, and there’s no word on what Bey will be singing exactly, though the country-tinged “Daddy’s Lessons” from her dynamic Lemonade album is a good guess. The Dixie Chicks have covered the soulful folk tune, and it would obviously fit right in with what the CMAs have going on.

“It felt more folk than country, but I think people naturally interpreted it for country,” Kevin Cossom, co-writer of the catchy song told Billboard. “I think folk is a sister of soul as well. It’s not too far from what we already feel or do. It’s just changing the music format, making it more organic naturally.”

Bey’s performance is doubly special, as the CMAs are celebrating their 50th anniversary this year—that may be why the awards show is bringing out the big guns. Of course, the awards show has been known to dip into other genres from time to time. Remember last year when Justin Timberlake and soulful singer/songwriter Chris Stapleton collaborated on that epic performance of “Tennessee Whiskey” and “Drink You Away”?

At any rate, we’re excited to see what Bey has planned—if it’s anything like her last performance at an awards show, it’s going to be dynamic.

The CMAs air tonight on ABC at 8/7 central.
