In late 2015, some of the west coast’s most cherished voices in hip-hop gathered on one gritty 16-track outing. Over the weekend, the instrumentals from Bad Neighbor, the Madlib-produced project from MED and Blu (featuring MF DOOM, Phonte, Anderson .Paak and more) were released to wax featuring three extra suites from The Beat Konducta.

To punctuate the release, MED’s Bang Ya Head Records has liberated “The Turn Up,” an Oh No-assisted heater that didn’t make the final cut for the record, which you can hear in its entirety down below.  Put an ear to “The Turn Up” and head over to Bang Ya Head to pick up a copy of Madlib’s Bad Neighbor instrumentals on vinyl today. Jury’s still out on whether we’ll get that sequel to his collaborative album with Freddie Gibbs, tentatively-titled Bandana, according to the producer’s recent Red Bull Music Academy lecture (jump back to watch that in its entirety.) But with the Gary, IN rapper back in full form, we may be closer than anyone had initially imagined. Stay tuned for the next transmission.
