BET will tackle the rise of Death Row Records with never-before-seen footage and an eyewitness of the murder of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas in 1996.
Almost two decades have passed since anyone affiliated with Death Row Records has made any significant noise. No shots to the artists who were there at all, but the label has been a shell of itself since the murder of Tupac Shakur and exit of stars Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and The Lady of Rage. BET is looking to share the history of the world’s most dangerous label in a two-part series titled, Death Row Chronicles, which premieres on Tuesday, Feb. 20 at 10:00 p.m. EST.
For those who have only heard the mythos of Death Row, the Suge Knight and Dr. Dre assembled powerhouse cultivated a legendary roster of talent that released multi-platinum albums from its stable. In Death Row Chronicles, audiophiles and history buffs will dive deep into the label’s vault with never-before-seen footage, first-hand interviews and an eyewitness account of Tupac Shakur’s murder in Las Vegas from 1996.
Death Row’s legacy in hip-hop and the music entertainment business cannot be denied as the stories cultivated from this label will live on as one of the most interesting (and dangerous) times in hip-hop.
