Born in Fredericton, New Brunswick, Canada. John "Johnny Word" Ward, moved to the Manor Park Projects, located in eastern Ottawa (Ontario, Canada) at the age of two. Spending most of his childhood in hoods of the Manor Park and Vanier areas, Johnny began rapping in his early teens with other local kids from the neighborhood. To pass the time, along with smoking joints, drinking forty-ouncers and skateboarding, they would often beat box, rap accapella, and battle rap, late into the night.
It was not long before Johnny became obsessed with rhyming words and eventually began to fill his high-school science journals with verses. Eventually, Johnny started recording, at first using his fathers karaoke stereo, and would sometimes perform his songs, with friends, at high school talent shows etc. Johnny eventually upgraded to a home studio, Protools, setup, which he still uses a version of today to produce his dope sounds from his townhome basement.
Although the sound has been steadily progressing, and the love for the music is just as strong as back in the days, cyphering behind the local Mac's Milk, and he has never really stopped writing or recording, other priorities, such as his three beautiful children; twin boys (2yrs old) and daughter (4yrs old), and his roofing business have taken precedent over the music for obvious reasons. But now, Johnny feels his sound is at a point where it needs to be shared with the world!
