Mark Balet

Mark Balet

Mark Balet is a reggae fusion artist and producer based out of Brooklyn, New York. His new album, Born to Love, is lively and threaded with an innovative musical fusion of Reggae, Rock, Hip Hop & Afrobeat. Born in April 1983, to military and diplomat parents. He grew up as a third-culture kid between Ivory Coast, Egypt, United States, France, England and Spain. In 1996 Mark formed Mauvaise Race, a Hip-hop & Reggae duo, and earned his stripes by performing in reggae sound systems and open mics.

In 2007 Mark Balet launched Eternel Music, an independent record label, associated with the world's leading reggae label, VP Records "Although I'm involved in the business aspect, Eternel Music is the foundation that keeps me focused on the main purpose. I've survived war. Many of my comrades didn't! People are hurting all accross the world and I believe that Love Music is a powerful medecine". Formerly known as Marky, Mark Balet released his first LP in 2010, titled Eternel and found his way to the mainstream audience with his first single Outsider [Eternel Music - Sony ATV/ EMI Music Publishing].

The ongoing love theme throughout the album spans chronological aspects of human experiences with love, beginning from birth with the powerful love between mother and child, as depicted in the song “Mother Angel”, and ending with the fear and sadness of the loss of love as a result of death, as portrayed in the song “Fallen soldier. The songs in-between encompass different phases of love, discovering the power within oneself to overcome adversity, as an inspirational love simulated in the song “Rising Son”; “Love of a Father” which entails spiritual love; and, of course, the song acclaimed as the album title, “Born to Love”, in which he addresses the broader question of why we are here… Mark Balet makes it clear that the answer is: we are “Born to Love”. "Born to Love" is now available. Visit Website:  www.markbalet.com
