The Coup’s Boots Riley Prepares Book, “Tell Homeland Security–We Are The Bomb”

Oakland, California MC, poet, activist, and revolutionary Boots Riley can add another title to his growing list: author. Following his recent op-ed on the wage gap in the United States, the longtime front-man for The Coup is preparing to release Tell Homeland Security–We Are The Bomb, a Haymarket Books publication.

According to the publisher, Boots’ book will serve as a non-fiction release that captures his story and art, along with some of his essays on politics, race, and society. “[The book] brings together his songs, commentary, and back-stories with compelling photos and documents.” The works’ foreward is by award-winning author and educator Adam Mansbach.

Pulitzer Prize-winning author Dave Eggers says of the book, “Boots’ unparalleled lyrics are here, but there’s so much more, too—all of it bearing Boots’s trademark combination of revolutionary politics, absurdist humor, and rare lyricism. This is a great book about a great man.”

In conjunction with the book, the Street Sweeper Social Club member has announced a book tour. The Coup last released Sorry To Bother You in 2012, their sixth album.
