Man, y’all know Erykah Badu. Y’all know that every once in awhile those entrancing green eyes get their sights set on some spur-of-the-moment mischief. Whether she’s busking for change in Times Square, putting Igloo Australia on blast (for obvious reasons) or crashing live news broadcasts at will, Badu has practically turned the world into her stage, and frankly, all to our benefit.
At a recent midday stop at Malcolm X Shabazz High School in Newark, NJ, Miss Badu, who had appeared courtesy of The Future Project education initiative, treated students to an impromptu live performance of her soul standard “On & On,” even dipping into a tray or two to jack some fries from unsuspecting kids. To her defense, didn’t exactly have their heads on a swivel, given that Badu had literally taken to the table in front of them for roughly half of her performance (kids these days, am I right?)
Watch Erykah Badu teach these youngins’ a thing or two about show(o)manship in the clip below and hold tight for the imminent next episode. You really never know when or where she’ll pop up next.
