“Get Top on the phone!”
The California record label has steadily become a house of hits after the successes of Kendrick Lamar, SZA and new signee, Lance Skiiiwalker. With rumored releases from Ab-Soul, Jay Rock and Isaiah Rashad, the attention has shifted to ScHoolboy Q, who has already given us brief glimpses into his new album. Today, he offers another bit of insight into his groovy gangster world by unleashing “THat Part” which features Kanye West.
In the video, Q flails around in a hue of purplish-blue, red and swags out with faceless cohorts and a bevy of beauties. A visual and psychedelic treat, Q joyrides on a school bus filled with people and arrives at Kanye West’s California enclave as Yeezy takes us on a trip through his “property” which includes a stripper pole (and stripper) in the living room. “THat Part” serves as the lead single from Q’s as-yet-titled album, which is slated to drop on July 8th.
For those who haven’t yet heard the previously released “Groovy Tony,” the “no-faced killer” beat is something he continues in “THat Part.” As you watch the video until the end, you’ll see that Kanye West aggressive raps at the school bus while trying to convince Top to, of course, get on the phone. The screen fades to black with a phone number appearing: 1-800-351-1132. We actually called it (as we’re sure you have too) and we were instantly greeted by an automated message, saying, “Hello, Billy, it’s Top Dawg. Leave a message, I might call you back.”
Take your chances and dial up TDE’s Top Dawg or just press play and enjoy “THat Part” below!
